Get your press releases in the mail now. To encourage an editor’s interest in your press release, make sure you make it newsworthy by emphasizing:
- New technology
- First-time or unique product introductions
- Show-related promotions and events
- Product improvements
- Notification of mergers/acquisitions
Be sure to target your copy and benefits to the specific media markets to which you’re writing in your press releases. If you include photos, they should be color 5" x 7" prints, with captions taped onto the backs of the photos identifying your company name and people or products. If you send photos electronically, make sure the image resolutions are 300 dpi or better. You may also refer editors to your Web site or to www.packexpo.com for more information.
CREATE A PRESS KIT
Use a press kit to help industry media gain an understanding of your company, product or service so they will write about it. Your press kit needs to be a collection of materials designed to communicate your message in detail to the industry media outlets.
A professional press kit should include:
- News releases
- Your company logo
- A technical specifications list
- Photos with captions
- Supporting literature
- A business card or contact information
Pages should be collated and stapled into one unit, and mailings should go out at least two months prior to the show. Many companies are now sending out “E-Press Kits,” with the same information either on CD-ROM or linked in an email to a corporate Web site. These tactics work well as long as the appropriate information is included and the process is simple and easy for editors.

PRESS BRIEFING ROOM
A Press Briefing Room is available to exhibitors who would like to hold a press conference during show hours. Exhibitors can book the room for an hour. The room is set up with a projector, screen, mic and ample seating for the attending press.
